I think I'll archive this and let it go.  I don't see that I'll be in a position to do a live IN game for a few years.  Hazard of expat life...

A warm and hearty thanks to lunakitten  for once again tormenting players with her turn as Lilith, and for helping run the game in general.  There was something delightful about this con;  both In Nomine Live and the homebrew Red Queen went through with minimal use of rules at all, let alone any glitches in the rules.  'Pure' roleplaying carried the day, which warms my heart.

So how did Etienne and his ship play this time?

(Will transfer this to the new page, but meanwhile for my reference. Will also post to OOC thread for feedback, in case I've forgotten anything)

5 xp a month is high and I'm backing off of that some, trying to stay on the generous side of canon without shafting the newer players. Still trying to work that out. Maybe 5 xp every other month?

In reverse chronological:

May 2008, "Angels' Flight" chat: the relic plus 3 xp. Can cash that relic in for 2 xp or trade it to your own Superior for some other, but you have to deal with the fallout of refusing a gift from Michael.

As with any chat-linked xp, it's not required that you be at the live chat to get it. All in play at that point receive the points.

Angels' Flight May 4th 2008 see above

April/May 2008--end Pepito?

Feb 2nd? 2008 "Homicide, Genocide, Rivercide" chat, 5 xp

December 2007--5 xp 'cos it's the holidays :)

November 9th 2007--"Dogs of War" chat, 5xp

October 2008, 5 xp "once you get out of Ryuki's living room" post # 86 (no chat game, couldn't get schedules meshed)

September 2007--"In the Dragon's Lair" chat 5 xp

August 2007--"Release the Bats" chat 5 xp

Note entry #25 LA angelic demographics
9/23/07--presumably Dragon's Lair, was aborted due time zone error. Resked 28th
entry #70--3 extra xp skill only for Methariel 'playing Seraph to the hilt'
#239, about ethereal tethers
Remember Ash's Marches knowledge, and write that up.
#271 & 2--vesselspace mechanics refined

Wrote this lovely bit and LJ lost it. Pout.

Now that a scene, and dare I say a fairly dramatic one, has come to an end, I'd like some feedback. There was Gavin, whose death was announced after the fact like so many Shakespeare scenes (they couldn't afford effects back then? or did the audiences not want gore?), and there was Pepito who the PC's had to dispatch themselves. (Okay, there was a possibility of saving him, but it was so very slim.) Anyway, I want some feedback. Whether you're a player or a lurker, do me a huge favor and answer the poll. Leave a couple of comments. If you don't have an LJ account you should be able to post anonymously.

See next entry--LJ polls don't allow editing, like adding this blurb.  :(

Trying not to get caught flatfooted again, I've finally started researching locations for the next big deal.  After this scene our villain will be quiet for some time, or at least not shooting up cemeteries!  This (I hope) will give the party time to deal with issues, to deal with their leader's issues, to otherwise have some interpersonal deals.  Oh, and that dagger, which I must not forget.

Meanwhile, some or all of the locations I'm looking at:

Oahu/Hawai'i.
Already noted in the spoilers--don't go looking there yet, as I'm going to write a non-spoilery version of that.  The short version is that the deaths of Oannes and (The Sea, whose name escapes me at the moment) had created a celestial void there.  And Nature abhors a vacuum.  What you might know for now is that celestials rarely go there, and those who do tend to run into an unusual number of accidents.  There's a tether there, though I haven't decided whether it's Eli's, Novalis', or Jordi's.  There are rumors that Eli and/or Gabriel have been spotted there, but they're not terrifically credible rumors.

Commercial airline based in the United States.
Will reread Night Music to see what canon does with Austin, maybe slant it there.  This is a character-driven plot for a character not-yet introduced.

Related to this:  tether of Janus on board a 767.

Chicago or New York
Another character-driven bit, though if you've read the LJ spoilers you've anticipated this.  New York makes more sense given the muse, but I'm personally more familiar with Chicago from researching a previous character.  Not that I've been to either.

Unnamed Windward island, south Caribbean
Makes sense with our villain, and also tied in with a non-IN character i.e. saving me some research.

Mount Shasta, California
Different not-yet-introduced NPC tie-in that I've been tossing around for some time.  Wanted some ski resort and the only two that I've been to are Shasta and Big Bear (I don't ski).

Moscow, Russia,
Another NPC tie-in, though I know a whole lot of nothing about Moscow and would have to do a lot of research to bring the plot there.  Still, should get it out of the U.S. somewhat.

Belfast, Northern Ireland
Plot driven location, and someplace I researched for a live IN game, with the right themes for MHC.

Tokyo and environs
Not planning to go there, but with as many ties to Japan as this plot has I need to have it prepared.

Speaking of plot, need to look at the cities where that dagger has been.

Thoughts?  Suggestions?  I'm also open to a guest GM/consultant like I did with darquay and U.S. Marine culture.

Warning--these are very spoilery. Some of the points here have been revealed since they were written, but some haven't. Click at your own risk, and remember you cannot unread:

Ryuki Watari's destiny  Speculative, but includes details about his background he wouldn't want you to know. ;)

On Villainy, Sin, and Discord I was musing on a book about Hamlet, thinking about the nature of evil. The example I used lays out very clearly the source of Corat's discord, which no character in play can actually know at this point.

Private conversation between Shenmachel and Rina-el This is actually "unlocked" now that I have the players' permission, though as you see by the link it wasn't properly locked in the first place.  The scene took place in the 'Seraphim Don't Lie' subset, i.e. between the Corps' exit and the MHC's meeting at Rina-el's home.

Should Pepito survive as a Remnant?

Options:
No.  I write him finished as I'd promised to do.
Let the cards decide.  Now my math isn't great, but the odds of his running out of Celestial Forces in the next two draws looks to me like 1 in 9.  If somehow he beats those odds, I'll draw a 'check digit' card, possibly from a divination deck, to give myself some idea how to deal with that.  I'll also take the "Yes" answers into consideration.
Yes, happy ending.  He'd be written into the background, available as an NPC but I won't actively pull him into plot.  The PC's can ignore or include him as you will, plus not have to deal with the fact of having killed someone.
Yes, plot!  He's got some folks who may still find him useful, or who may wonder how he became Remnant, or a dozen other plot hooks I could use to keep him in story, evolve him a bit.  I will not promise to make him a protagonist though.  Won't promise he'll stay evil either, can only promise that he'll complicate your characters' lives but good.

Comments well appreciated.  And for those not playing, you can vote too.  So who's Pepito?

“Angel Tears”

The Grigoris’ story

That the Grigori were exiled from Heaven was common knowledge, but it wasn’t quite true.  That angels unlike humans lacked free will wasn’t quite true either, or at least was a point of debate.  Isabella aka Angela Bryson saw the shades of gray up close, at ground level you could safely say.  She’d had to choose, because she was Grigori.

Watchers we are called, but we were not content with watching.  Sent among the Lord’s crowning creation we wanted to see them, feel them, vicariously be them.  Join their families, be more than guests.  Not just leaders but comrades, not just friends but lovers.  And we did.

The others became jealous.  No, it wasn’t that simple.  We became jealous, jealous of what we had, protective of our families—husbands, wives, children.  Some of those children were born defective but we loved them just the same.  When the Host demanded we choose, Heaven or Earth, we chose our children.  As any parent would.

We are exiles by choice.  We had no choice.

Eklizeal stayed behind, Archangel of the Grigori, quietly looking after us from her clouds, tears falling, the rain.
